ALL HANDS ON DECK!

A favorite story from the life of Christ pictures children coming to be with him.  They are held back by their elders.  Jesus chastises the adults, implores them to permit the children access, and even holds them up as examples and says that in order to enter the kingdom of heaven, we have to become like them!  He could have been talking about our high school group this last Tuesday night!!

The rubber began to meet the road last Tuesday as Operation Renovation went into full tilt demolition mode!  Matt brought the high school students out in numbers, and they came ready for action.  25 or more students with as many other adults and parents throughout the night combined for an incredible night that exceeded every expectation!  Walls, carpets, staging and more were all brought to their bare place of preparation for the makeover yet to come!  A week’s worth of work in a few hours of well led efforts from lots of willing hands!

MANY THANKS for all who have been a part of the first exciting week of Operation Renovation!  Now is the time when we need everyone to step up to take us to the next level!!

Please read the list below, and see which of the following times might work for you to hop on board this week with OPERATION RENOVATION!  Somebody noticed that serving in this project is like a slice of life from ministry in Mexicali, but it’s right here at the Lighthouse!  This may be the most significant chapter of life and ministry at Rock Harbor in the year to come.  Please reply to this message to let us know where you might fit in the week ahead bringing life to the Lighthouse!  Families are welcome.  Please bring gloves, eyewear, and a hammer if you can.  We really need help this week in particular (Saturday 5/31Monday and Tuesday are critical!) to stay on track with the construction plan.

FINDING GOD IN JOE’S TIRES!

Joe sped off early Monday morning for a busy day of work. Over the weekend he picked up a new set of tires, replacing the slicks he had been driving. With a green light, Joe accelerated into the highway onramp, not seeing the truck heading as it quickly overcame him from much higher speeds already traveling on the highway. The young driver had fallen asleep. His truck traveling 65 mph now crossed over three lanes of traffic and crashed straight into Joe’s front left fender! The collision sent Joe and his car into a high speed uncontrollable spin. Somehow missing other vehicles already in their morning commute, Joe’s crossed through the lanes of traffic, was stopped by the divider, belted in and now facing oncoming traffic…but safe, and alive!

When the police officer arrived, he assessed the situation, studying the scene and vehicles involved. He noticed the new tires, and the amount of rubber burned off of them in the spinning slide. He asked Joe when he had bought them, and continued to tell him that those tires had probably saved his life. Older tires with less tread would have not had the resistance to slow the spin. The impact of such a high speed spin with the guardrail may have been deadly!

In James 1, we learn that “every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father above”. Not by accident, coincidence or luck, but by the grace of God, that those tires came at just the right time! Where have you seen God lately? Last week Joe found God in his tires!

Here are some other places you may find God in life and ministry at Rock Harbor:

ROCKLIN SERVICE PROJECT, Saturday, April 26 - Plan to join many of us next Saturday, April 26 as we serve our community helping to beautify a Rocklin Elementary school on Saturday, April 26. We have already received some funds for this project and will be taking a second offering tomorrow on Sunday, May 20 to help bless this school!

DINNERS FOR 8, April 26, May 3 - EVERYONE AT ROCK HARBOR is going to dinner together! Half our church will be going to the other half’s homes for dinner, hopefully either on the evening of Saturday April 26 or Saturday, May 3. Sign up for “Home” if you’d rather have people over, or “AWAY” if you’d rather go somewhere. We’ll randomly connect people at a number around 8. You’ll get a call Monday or Tuesday next week to find out who you’ll get to eat with along with their contact info. You take it from there! Want to join a dinner for 8? Reply with something like “HOME 3″ or “AWAY 4″.

RIVER CATS, Sunday, May 4 - We are sending up to 60 people out to the ball park right after church for an amazing time beginning at 1:00 in the lawn seats of Raley’s field! Please reply to this message if you or your family hope to join us for this event.

LADIES’ NIGHT OUT, May 14 - Every second Wednesday of the month the Rock Harbor women get together in someone’s home for a breath fresh air, encouragement and fellowship. Set May 14th aside to join us at Amy Dunn’s house at 8161 Amberwood Court in Loomis. We’re looking forward to some encouraging words from long time friend of Rock Harbor, Lori Dehtlefs!

AMAZING GRACE - Amazing grace…how sweet that sounds! In the midst of life’s pressures, our failures, and even successes, we can easily get boxed into dismal routines of daily life that steal the joy of living. Learn how life in all seasons can become the joyful song of God’s goodness to you and the ones you love.
